Finding a nutritional bar that’s low in sugar, with a decent amount of protein, yet doesn’t leave an unpleasant aftertaste or discomfort in the body requires some effort and patience. I’ve honestly experimented with too many to even list over the years.  Some of the ones I bought more than once include Power Crunch, NuGo, Balance, Pure Protein, Clif, ZonePerfect, Atkins and Quest which unfortunately resulted in one or more of the following side effects either immediately or a few hours after consumption: sluggishness, foggy head, bloating/weight gain, blood sugar imbalances and slight nausea.

About a year ago, I discovered KIND bars and took an immediate liking.  My go-to flavors include Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt and Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan.  Each bar contains 200 calories, 5 grams of sugar, 7 grams of fiber and a variety of nutrients.  They give me the instant energy, strength and focus I need to get through a long workout. Most importantly, I have no bothersome side effects whatsoever.

Many of my health coaching clients, whom I’ve suggested KIND bars to, have also incorporated them into their diets.  They consume 1-2 per day and still manage to lose weight.  The most reasonable prices seem to be on Amazon ranging from $1.04 to $1.13/count when you purchase a box of 12.  Some grocery stores have deals.  Most Starbucks locations I’ve frequented charge a whopping $1.99 per bar, so obviously shop around!

Keep in mind that every body is unique.  Your favorite food could be somebody else’s poison.  Ditch the stuff that doesn’t leave you feeling 100%.  If you have specific wellness goals and are having a tough time reaching them, feel free to contact me.  I’m offering a special deal for first-time clients.  Call 925-808-9652 or email Jamie.Duvnjak@gmail.com

As always, make it a healthy week!
